Acquis de Schengen - Accord d’adhésion de la République hellénique à la Convention d’application de l’Accord de Schengen du 14 juin 1985 entre les Gouvernements des États de l’Union économique Benelux, de la République fédérale d’Allemagne et de la République française relatif à la suppression graduelle des contrôles aux frontières communes, signée à Schengen le 19 juin 1990, à laquelle ont adhéré la République italienne par l’Accord signé à Paris le 27 novembre 1990 et le Royaume d’Espagne et la République portugaise par les Accords signés à Bonn le 25 juin 1991. II. Au moment de la signature de l’Accord d’adhésion de la République hellénique à la Convention d’application de l’Accord de Schengen du 14 juin 1985 entre les Gouvernements des États de l’Union économique Benelux, de la République fédérale d’Allemagne et de la République française relatif à la suppression graduelle des contrôles aux frontières communes, signée à Schengen le 19 juin 1990, à laquelle ont adhéré la République italienne par l’Accord d’adhésion signé à Paris le 27 novembre 1990, le Royaume d’Espagne et la République portugaise par les Accords d’adhésion signés à Bonn le 25 juin 1991, les Parties Contractantes ont adopté les Déclarations suivantes :

5) Déclaration commune relative au Mont Athos

Reconnaissant que le statut spécial accordé au Mont Athos, tel qu’il est garanti par l’article 105 de la Constitution hellénique et la Charte du Mont Athos, est justifié exclusivement pour des motifs de caractère spirituel et religieux, les Parties contractantes veilleront à en tenir compte dans l’application et l’élaboration ultérieure des dispositions de l’Accord de 1985 et de la Convention de 1990.

Agreement on the accession of the Hellenic Republic to the Convention implementing the Schengen Agreement of 14 June 1985 between the Governments of the States of the Benelux Economic Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the French Republic on the gradual abolition of checks at their common borders signed at Schengen on 19 June 1990, to which the Italian Republic acceded by the Agreement signed at Paris on 27 November 1990, and to which the Kingdom of Spain and the Hellenic Republic acceded by the Agreements signed at Bonn on 25 June 1991.

At the time of signing the Agreement on the Accession of the Hellenic Republic to the Convention implementing the Schengen Agreement of 14 June 1985 between the Governments of the States of the Benelux Economic Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the French Republic on the gradual abolition of checks at their common borders signed at Schengen on 19 June 1990, to which the Italian Republic acceded by the Agreement signed at Paris on 27 November 1990 and to which the Kingdom of Spain and the Portuguese Republic acceded by the Accession Agreements signed at Bonn on 25 June 1991, the Contracting Parties adopted the following Declarations :

5) Joint Declaration concerning Mount Athos

Recognising that the special status granted to Mount Athos, as guaranteed by Article 105 of the Hellenic Constitution and the Charter of Mount Athos, is justified exclusively on grounds of a spiritual and religious nature, the Contracting Parties will ensure that this status is taken into account in the application and subsequent preparation of the provisions of the 1985 Agreement and the 1990 Convention.
